Dark Chocolate Bars - Michel Cluizel's Los Ancones & Grand Noir
With over 175 different, luxury dark chocolate bars to choose from (that's enough to try a different dark chocolate bar every day for nearly half-a-year!); single origin, single estate, blends, etc. we take a look at what makes each dark chocolate bar we sell unique.
In Episode 6, we review Michel Cluizel Los Ancones and Grand Noir dark chocolate bars.
Michel Cluizel Los Ancones, 67% Dark Chocolate Bar.
The Los Ancones is one of 7 single estate dark chocolate bars created by Michel Cluizel.
With its blend of Trintario cocoa, from the Los Ancones plantation, situated on the Caribbean island of Santo Domingo, this dark chocolate bar provides a wealth of fresh fruit flavours, including apricot, peach with a touch of green olives.
Medium acidity, below average bitterness, high fruit and low roast flavour profile, and made with Bourbon vanilla, this particular bar is organic & soya lecithin free. It received an award from the Soil Association Organic Food Awards in 2010.
"I loved this bar, so well rounded and bursting full of flavour and oh so smooth, no wonder its a winner!"
Michel Cluizel Grand Noir, 85% Dark Chocolate Bar.
A strong intense dark chocolate bar, with its 85% cocoa content, which still offers an outstanding balance of flavours.
Made with a blend of fine-flavour Forastero & Trinitario cocoa from central America, Africa and Java.
This dark chocolate bar is soya lecithin free and made with Bourbon vanilla & 100% cocoa butter.
"Possibly the most consistent in flavour of all the 85 percent bars I
have tried and so perfection in my opnion. Given that it is an 85% cocoa
content its not at all astringent or burnt tasting as you often find
with cheaper chocolate bars (cocoa beans). So the quality comes through.
I recommend."
Both chocolate bars are part of our extensive Michel Cluizel range of bean to bar chocolates and chocolate selection boxes. Many of their single origin and single estate chocolates feature within their chocolate selection boxes. There is also a small selection of couvertures available in milk & dark chocolate, for truly mouth watering chocolate desserts.
