Have you traced your bag of Callebaut 811 Dark Chocolate Chips back to the Farming Communities that grew the cocoa yet?

Belgian chocolatiers, Callebaut, have introduced a new Trace Me Back feature on their popular, 54% dark chocolate couverture, with every bag carrying a unique code, which you can scan with your mobile phone, or type into Callebaut’s own website.

You can then follow your bag of cooking chocolate chips, back through the production process / location to the very farming communities who cultivated & grew the cocoa beans, via interactive online maps.

It’s a fascinating glimpse into the World of chocolate and, in particular, the bag you hold in your hand.

Callebaut say their new traceability guarantee will make them more transparent about the communities who grow their cocoa beans.

These communities also participate in Callebaut’s Cocoa Horizons program, which works towards improving farmers livelihoods, empowering women farmers, and zero child labour.

Chefs will also be able to add to the provenance of their ingredients – the stories behind how the food / ingredients were produced. From the home/hobbyist baker & decorator to the largest food manufacturers.

Currently, the Dark Chocolate Callets (recipe 811), 54% cocoa content, have the ‘Trace Me’ feature on 400g, 1kg, 2.5kg & 10kg bag sizes.

‘Trace Me’ is now also appearing on our stock of Callebaut Milk chocolate chips (recipe 823 /823NV), and Callebaut will be adding the feature to more of their couverture (cooking chocolates).
