Hot Chocolate that's Pink!
Yes, you read that correctly. You can now find a pink hot chocolate drink on the high street, served by one of the well known high street coffee shop brands.
As part of their new product launch for 2020 and including specialities leading up to Valentine's Day, Costa Coffee have created a new hot chocolate drink, made using Ruby Chocolate.
Their website describes Ruby Hot Chocolate as "delicious and delightfully fruity" and stunningly "rose-coloured".
Ruby chocolate, from Belgian Chocolatiers, Callebaut, was introduced in 2018 as the 4th Chocolate - not white, milk or dark chocolate couverture but Ruby. With a distinctive pink colour and forest fruits taste profile.
It's been hugely popular and originally, only available in 10kg bags, Chocolate Trading Co quickly began offering sample bags as well as Ruby chocolate chips (callets) in 200g, 500g and 1kg bag sizes.
Later came a 2.5kg bag option from Callebaut themselves as demand continued to increase, worldwide, with some regions of the world only just getting their first deliveries.
To make your own Ruby Hot Chocolate at home, we suggest melting or softening a portion of the Ruby Chocolate chips in the bottom of your mug, before blending with hot liquid. Pre-warming or softening the chocolate chips will aid the blending and help avoid unblended pieces of whole chocolate in your drink.
One of the great benefits of using chocolate chips is that you can adjust the strength and taste of your drink to your own preferences and sweeten to taste etc. for the perfect Ruby Hot Chocolate.
Valentine's Day is an important day on the chocolate calendar. This year, why not surprise your Valentine with a pink hot chocolate?
