Madecasse - Bean to bar chocolate bars from Madagascar.

Did you know that although 70% of the world’s cocoa comes
from Africa, less than 1% of chocolate is actually made there?
Two former Peace Corps volunteers, who were stationed in
Madagascar at the time, are now on a mission to re-dress that balance.
Since 2008, Madecasse have championed bean to bar chocolate
making on Madagascar and in doing so, have “empowered” the islands cocoa
farmers by investing in skills, training and paying them a higher wage.
Consequently, Madecasse have helped safeguard the islands diverse
and exclusive eco-system of plants and animals, 85% of which are not found
anywhere else on Earth, across 250 acres of managed forest, containing some
70,000 cocoa trees.
The resulting Madagascan chocolate bars are a superb
selection of single origin, dark chocolate bars and milk chocolate bars, made
using heirloom cocoa, and which are all beautifully smooth on the palate and
packed with flavour.
Madecasse’s 100% cocoa content dark chocolate bar, with no
added sugar, is an intensely flavoured bar with little acidity and is a fine
example of chocolate in its purest form. For high cocoa content dark chocolate
lovers, it doesn’t get much better.
Also of note is Madecasse’s 70% dark chocolate bar which has
wonderful flavours of citrus fruit with its bright citrus finish.
Many of Madecasse’s chocolate bars have won Great Taste
awards, including the Madecasse Salted Almond 59% dark chocolate bar, with its
contrasting textures and the Madecasse high cocoa content (44% cocoa content)
‘Espresso Bean’ milk chocolate bar. A rich, smooth, flavoursome milk chocolate
bar topped with crushed coffee beans and cocoa nibs for a tasty crunch, full of
flavour.
