Dark Chocolate Bars - Valrhona's Guanaja & Caraibe
With over 175 different, luxury dark chocolate bars to choose from (that's enough to try a different dark chocolate bar every day for nearly half-a-year!); single origin, single estate, blends, etc. we take a look at what makes each dark chocolate bar we sell unique.
In Episode 3, we review Valrhona's Guanaja & Caraibe dark chocolate bars.
Valrhona Guanaja, 70% Dark Chocolate Bar.
One of Valrhona's most popular dark chocolate bars, the Guanaja is a single origin chocolate bar, created from a blend of Trinitario and Criollo cocoa beans, from the lush Caribbean island of Guanaja.
This dark chocolate bar offers a particularly lingering chocolate taste with a pleasing intensity and great depth of flavour.
With a reduced acidic taste, it has a medium bitterness and roast and medium-low fruit, flavour profile.
"Valrhona Guanaja is a dark chocolate bar that never fails to satisfy my
craving for dark chocolate. The balance of flavours, the bitterness and
sweetness, combine to produce a wonderful chocolate experience that will
not disappoint."
Valrhona Caraibe, 66% Dark Chocolate Bar.
With it's smooth melt and beautiful lingering finish, this 'Grand Crus' dark chocolate bar certainly deserves to be on your list of must-try chocolate bars.
Made using the finest Trinitario cocoa beans from the Caribbean islands. A lower fruit flavour profile than the Guanaja, but equal acidity, bitterness and roast, which highlights the difference's that can be achieved in flavour between two different cocoas from the same growing region.
"Absolutely gorgeous! The Valrhona Caraibe chocolate bar we have just
eaten was so full of flavour, that one square wasn't enough. Don't be
put off by the 66% dark chocolate - it wasn't at all bitter".
Both the Guanaja and the Caraibe dark chocolates are also available in 250g couverture blocks and 1kg & 3kg callets (chocolate chips). Exceptional dark chocolate, ideal for use in desserts and baking where the chocolate is the focus of the taste/main ingredient. See our full range of Valrhona cooking chocolates here.
