Dark Chocolate Bars - Michel Cluizel's Noir au Café & Vila Gracinda
With over 175 different, luxury dark chocolate bars to choose from (that's enough to try a different dark chocolate bar every day for nearly half-a-year!); single origin, single estate, blends, etc. we take a look at what makes each dark chocolate bar we sell unique.
In Episode 4, we review Michel Cluizel Noir au Café and Vila Gracinda dark chocolate bars.
Michel Cluizel Noir au Café, 60% Dark Chocolate Bar.
A blend of fine cocoas and Brazilian Arabica coffee beans, combine to produce this crafted dark chocolate bar.
With a cocoa content of 60%, the richness of the coffee is allowed to shine without being over-powering. The dark chocolate provides just the right contrast of bitterness.
Low acidity, medium bitterness, low fruit and a high roast are the main taste characteristics of this fine chocolate bar from Michel Cluizel of France. Often referred to as 'The Goldsmith of Chocolate' and a true bean to bar chocolate maker.
"This chocolate is perfect. Dark, yet not overpowering or bitter.
Subtle coffee and slight fruity finish. Too good, nothing else will do!".
Michel Cluizel Vila Gracinda, 67% Dark Chocolate Bar.
Wonderfully complex, this is a single estate, 67% cocoa content, dark chocolate bar created with Forastero cocoa beans grown on the Vila Gracinda plantation on the island of Sao Tome (nicknamed 'Africa's Eden').
Sao Tome is an island off the West Coast of Equatorial Guinea & Gabon, Africa, and this dark chocolate bar has all the characteristics one would expect of this small cocoa growing region.
With its earthy flavour profile with notes of liquorice and a sweet, contrasting fruit edge, it's beautifully balanced. Low acidity, medium bitter & fruit and a slightly higher roast.
"Pleasing, long lasting taste and very reasonably priced for a single estate chocolate bar. Highly recommended".
Both chocolate bars are part of our extensive Michel Cluizel range of bean to bar chocolates and chocolate selection boxes. Many of their single origin and single estate chocolates feature within their chocolate selection boxes. There is also a small selection of couvertures available in milk & dark chocolate, for truly mouth watering chocolate desserts.
