Problems
checking out? It may be your Visa card.
Problems
completing your order at checkout by debit or credit card? It may be you’ve
entered an incorrect card type.
Some Visa
debit/credit cards were re-issued to customers under the Mastercard brand,
following Visa announcing they were charging retailers & merchants higher
processing fees.
This led to
a very high-profile decision by Amazon to announce last year (2021) that they weren’t
going to accept Visa credit card payments from January 2022.
Although a
last-minute agreement between Visa & Amazon, saw Amazon change their stance
and continue to accept Visa card payments, many debit/credit card issuers
(Banks & card companies) were already issuing their customers with
replacement debit/credit cards, but Mastercard branded.
From our own
customers experiences, it would seem the change has gone relatively unnoticed by the public
BUT it continues to cause some customers to receive error messages when trying to make an online order payment, as they've entered the card is a Visa / Visa debit, when it is in fact a Mastercard.
So, when checking
out, its worth making sure that you’ve entered (if asked) the correct card type
e.g. Visa Debit, Mastercard, Visa, American Express etc.
It’s easy
to see if your card has been issued by Mastercard as you’ll spot their two round
overlapping red & orange circles logo, somewhere on the card.
Chocolate Trading Co accepts all debit/credit cards & PayPal at checkout, as well as BACs & Cheque payment options, online. For orders placed by phone, we can only accept Card payments.
