It could almost be an Andrew Lloyd Webber musical! The story of Two Frenchmen founding a chocolate company in Vietnam, after the French first introduced cacao to Vietnam in the late 19th century.

Today, Marou has the distinction of being the first artisan chocolate maker to be based in Vietnam, working with cooperatives and local farmers to produce a range of chocolate bars from the sought after Trinitario cocoa bean.

Marou Chocolate, made from the finest ingredients, all sourced in Vietnam and crafted together at the Marou premises in Saigon. Each bar proudly bears the name of the region from which it is produced.

From the Tien Giang – an 80% dark chocolate bar high in spice and nutty flavours to the Dong Nai – an exceptional 72% dark chocolate bar made from Marou’s own cacao fermentation and drying station near the Cat Tien Natural Park in the Dong Nai province. A very rare pod-to-bar chocolate indeed.

And their newest bar, now available from the Chocolate Trading Co, is the Treasure Island bar. A limited-edition 75% dark chocolate bar made from cocoa beans grown on a small family owned farm on the island of Tan Phu Dong.
