There’s nothing quite like an unexpected cold snap in the
weather to have you reaching for your favourite Hot Chocolate drink, and as you
would expect, Chocolate Trading Co has a wide selection of different milk
chocolate and dark chocolate, hot drinking chocolates from some of the world’s
most respected chocolatiers, for you to choose from.
We’ve pooled all of our hot chocolates together on one easy
reference page for you to compare and buy online - Click here.
Selected with the purity and quality of ingredients in mind,
the selection of drinking chocolates on offer varies in cocoa origin, cocoa
percentage and weight. Some are even organic & Fairtrade drinking
chocolates.
We currently have 14 different hot chocolates & 100%
cocoa powders to choose from; Chocolatiers include Amedei, Akesson’s, Bonnat,
Callebaut, Charbonnel et Walker, Chocolate Tree, Valrhona and not forgetting
our own Superior Selection drinking chocolate flakes.
For those who prefer to ‘make their own’ hot chocolate
drinks, then here are some alternatives.
Using Callebaut’s chocolate shavings (available in white,
milk and dark chocolate), crushing a small portion of these larger flakes
before blending in with your hot liquid of choice produces a very satisfying
hot chocolate drink.
We’d recommend starting with a heaped tablespoon per mug and
adjusting to suit your own individual taste.
An alternative to using chocolate shavings is to use
chocolate chips (callets / couvertures). With a wider variety of cocoa origins
and cocoa strengths to choose from, this allows you to make a very individual
hot chocolate drink indeed.
Because chocolate chips are more solid and therefore harder
to blend directly with your preferred hot liquid, we’d recommend pre-softening
a portion either in the mug using a microwave (be careful not to over-cook and
burn the chocolate and make sure your cup/mug/jug etc is microwave safe) or for
larger quantities, perhaps use a bain-marie or a microwave and microwave safe bowl.
Then simply whisk/blend in with hot milk etc. to make a
tasty hot chocolate, whenever you fancy.
If you’re using chips, we’d recommend starting with a 35g
portion per cup/mug and adjusting to suit individual taste preferences.

Add a luxurious touch by adding chocolate cigarellos as a
stirrer.
