CHOCOLATE giant Cadbury was facing rip-off charges today after it revealed its new range of half-sized bars for slimmers would be almost TWICE the price.

The move is set to lead to a shopkeeper revolt with retailers worried they will face the backlash from angry customers who feel they have been short changed.

The "under 99 calorie" versions of popular brands such as Dairy Milk and Bourneville may be smaller, but they will be considerably more expensive. At 25p for 17.5 grams, the small bars work out at just over 1.42p per gram. Regular sized 49 gram bars cost 40p each which is 0.82p per gram.

Industry journal Marketing Week said: "The product has been badly received by retailers who believe that consumers will not buy the product after realising they are being "ripped off."
