Palmira, vintage 2009, 64% cocoa, single estate, dark chocolate bar

Valrhona have created this 2009 vintage chocolate from the fine flavoured Criollo cocoa beans from the Palmira plantation in west Venezuela. As expected from Valrhona, this bar is exuding fruit notes but with an additional very distinct honey flavour and so quite a sweet dark chocolate. A exceptional chocolate with great length in flavour. The Palmira 2009 is now no longer available. The 2010 vintage will be available in September.

• Sugar
• Cocoa butter
• Vanilla
• Emulsifier: Soya Lecithin

Close to lake Maracaibo, a host of villages cling to the fertile land of West Venezuela with its extraordinary variety of flora and fauna. Amidst the fruity scent of mangoes, papayas and plantain bananas, men work the plantation to harvest the best Criollo cocoa beans in Venezuela. Subtle on the palate, a round taste with notes of honey and nuts, this choclate has all the characteristics required to make it exceptional.
