A premium dark chocolate bar of Valrhona Grand Cru quality. Made exclusively from the Trinitario bean from the Caribbean islands. Caraibe has a 66% cocoa content providing a moderate dark chocolate bar with not too much bitterness and a smooth melt and lingering finish.

A classic chocolate from Valrhona. I have been eating the caraibe for years and although I love to try others all the time I always buy this bar too. I think Valrhona chocolate has a more acidulous edge by the way then other chocolate makers although there are some particular single estates or origins that can have this but it does seem to be more of a consistent signature of Valrhona. The Cariaibe with nuts is lovely.

Yes the Caraibe is a classic chocolate and possibly because it was simply one of the first fine chocolates from Valrhona available in the UK. Perhaps they set the standard that others followed, maybe even surpassed on occasion. I have just ordered the new Valrhona bars and I very much look forward to tasting whether they also have moved on. Tomorrows post has never been so exciting - its been a while! The Abinao from Valrhona is certainly a new one to me. For those of you reading these reviews, trying to find out which bar is to your taste, I would recommend the Caraibe certainly for two reasons mainly. It was one of the first, and it still holds its own corner with its rich and fruity flavours that will please a wide range of tastes. Enjoy.
