Valrhona Araguani dark chocolate bar
September 5, 2006 15:30

Be one of the first to experience the new Araguani, Grand Cru chocolate bar from Valrhona. The Araguani has an intense flavour profile with notes of liquorice, rasin and chestnut. Created from a fine blend of Criollo and Trinitario cocoa beans from Venezuela.

VALRHONA ARAGUANI DARK CHOCOLATE BAR INGREDIENTS
• Cocoa beans, from Venezuela
• Brown sugar
• Cocoa butter
• Vanilla
• Emulsifier: Soya Lecithin

Valrhona's own description of the Araguani chocolate bar:
The result of a harmonious blend of two rare cocoa beans, Araguani releases intense aromas of liquorice, rasin and chesnut over its distinctively bitter base notes

Just received the Valrhona Araguani bar this morning as I ordered it the same day it became available!! This is the only place I have seen it for sale yet so I was very excited to be one of the first!!! I love it and its got that typical fruity valrhona flavour but because of the higher 72% cocoa it also has a great depth. I have yet to try the tanariva and abinao, also new origin bars from Valrhona. Thanks guys for the speedy service. I'll be back.

You beat me to it Edward. I was pleased to see this bar released here as although I love Valrhona I do like a slightly higher cocoa content and was getting a little bored with the Caraibe. Anyway a gap is filled now in my opinion and very well too. The Araguani has it all, the fruity edges (not too acidic) and the rich cocoa taste, helped by that little extra cocoa boost. Highly recommended. I too also bought the other new valrhona bars, abinao, manjari and tanariva - also v good although the Manjari is not of course a new chocolate as such to Valrhona.

Valrhona always produce a chocolate without fault really, lets be honest. It does hold a wider set of flavours perhaps than is usual and I was glad it wasn't overly fruity and sharp. This of course is down to the higher cocoa content as pointed out above. Very very good.

The aruguani to me tastes of prunes but I suppose this ties in with the rasin and liquorice mentioned above which are certainly all there. I agree with you Emmy, it is nice not to have all those sharp, citrus notes from Valrhona for a change as I prefer the deeper notes too. This Valrhona bar holds those and I really like this chocolate. 9/10 from me.
