Description

Pralus have exclusively used fine flavour, Criollo cocoa from the island of Java in Indonesia to create this contrasting flavoured, single origin chocolate bar.

  • Our tasting notes found orange peel notes with pleasing acidity to begin with evolving into a woody, liquorice and toffee notes finish. Pralus also refer to notes of mushroom and smokiness. This dark chocolate bar exclusively uses fine flavour, Criollo cocoa from Indonesia.
  • The island of Java is well known for the quality of its cocoa beans which comes from Criollo trees brought into the island by the Spanish in the 17th century.

4You really must try this

Wow, this tastes nothing like a 75%. No sweetness whatsoever. Probably not one I'd buy again unless I was in a late night jazz club having consumed a lovely amount of bourbon or shiraz, or been on the strongest double espressos. It is smoky, it is chilled, it is either "hippy" time or "after show rock gig" time (this one I have experienced). Certainly an interesting mix of flavours. I had two full caff Americanos with just 30% of it. I wouldnt have had it down as a criollo, which just goes to show that I'm not as good as this tasting lark as I thought I was! Still, rock on dude!

4You really must try this

This is not the most outstanding chocolate bar out there but a deserving one. It starts with high fruit and finishes with high roast and the process of this evolution of taste in your mouth is quite enthralling. The problem is that after you have made that journey a few times it starts to seem boring and flat, at least for me that is what it came to. So it is a good bar for a change now and then but it will never be on the list of chocolates I cannot live without. Taste being a very personal thing, I would recommend to give it a try and decide for yourself.

3Worth a try

Quite an unusual chocolate. Not top scoring for me personally but very interesting with quite a journey of flavours. The tasting notes here are spot on so I need not repeat..
